National Terrorist Bank

Posted bymjv_tiggeron 10/17/2008

You ask for no business bashing, but I am sorry, National City Bank leaves me more appalled and horrified than 9/11. Tooooo many reasons to list here. Class Action Law suite needs to bring this institution down. They will take your grocery money for a 34 cent overdraft and use that overdraft to create another overdraft and continue this cycle until you are at the brink dispare. I was always taught not to say anything, if it isn't nice but this place with its overdraft manipulation and exploitation verifies that the love of money is the root of all evil. I have been traumatized by them, literally. I actually cringe and find myself getting anxiety attacks when I see a branch office while driving. Sorry, post or don't post, this has been my experience.

Do not get an account here!

This is a horrible bank. I've had the worst banking experience here. They hold your money for almost 2 weeks before they release it! When asking about it, the customer service was rude and condescending.

Avoid Business

National city is crazy, they hire idiots! They will take money out of your acct and say it for an over draft fee even when you have funds, Say that they cashed your check for a higher dollar amount and than charge you, there hasn't been a month that went by where I didn't have some problem. The teller was supposed to cash my check and instead put it in to my acct and then claimed to not be able to reverse it....yea thanks missed a family reunion! DON'T SET UP AN ACCT THERE YOU WILL BE SORRY!

Walk Don't Run to the Nearest Exit!!!!!

Well, where do I start....... I am totally dissatified with NC! If it's not the backwards way they post deposits into your account then it's the rediculous fees they charge!!!!!! I have both personal and business checking accounts with them and choose them beacuse of their slick advertising promising hassle free transactions. That was BS!!!! I don't know how many times I got overdraft charges becaouse it takes them up to 5 days to have the funds available to you after you deposit a check! And that's for business checking, too! They don't tell you that up front and I have yet to find that policy in the fine print!!!!!!!!! My wife and I run our own business and I had to purchase some A/V equipment for a job I had. The total came out to about $5,000 and when I tried to pay for it, the retailer said my card was denied because of a spending limit of $500 was on the account (which was never told to me!!!!). I had to get on the phone with some buffoon from India (That NC's top notch customer service team!!!) and get them to increase the limit! It took me an hour to get that done!!!!! How embarassing!! There hasn't been a month yet where we haven't had a difficulty with these people. We will soon be taking our business elsewhere!!!!

Bank elsewhere

Posted bysweetbrightnesson 4/21/2008

My husband and I have been with this bank for 4 years, we intially took our banking here because Harris Bank was becoming much too expensive and we had our mortgage with National City as well. Long story short, I have screen captions where a payment was pending and a deposit was made, the deposit would be in the bank for approximately 3 days, while the pending would come up and clear just before the deposit cleared on the very same day. I've done a one two dance with this bank on so many occasions I cannot express to you in words how difficult a bank they are to contend with. Two days after Christmas my ID was stolen, approximately $1300 was stolen out of our business account. I found this discrepancy 4 hours after it happened - happenstance as I wasn't going to check the bank that evening. We had to fight tooth and nail to fill out the paperwork, the gal behind the counter tried to rush us, they were not interested in the police report, etc. On top of all of that, the customer service is... interesting. We are trying to get our feet under us so we can take our banking elsewhere. Their latest fiasco? An official 'renewal' for a stop payment check back in May of 2007 for a charge of $32, and every year thereafter. Easy money for them.... our hard earned money gone. Why would I want to renew a stop payment on a check that is, in essence, void? I have called other banks and they have said they do the same thing, charge for renewing a stop payment, however a check is no longer 'live' after six months, particularly one from a personal account. Run do not walk to the nearest exit when it comes to National City Bank.
